Introduction : Hiking from Bhivpuri Location: 2625ft above MSL, in Sahyadrimountainranges

How to reach : There are several ways to reach the top.
Matheran via Garbut point : We get down at Bhivpuri road railway station (between Neral and Karjat on the central line, Mumbai suburban) and walk along the highway towards Neral. Take a left turn thru vadavli village and follow the route to reach the Garbut plateau. From there, one can reach Matheran via Garbet village.

Day 1 Leave from Mumbai early in the morning and reach Bhivpuri road railway station while the sky is still dark. Reach the first village hiking,walk through one village, then the next separated by fields and vast empty lands. To the left (south) was the barrage and in front (west) was the charming Matheran hill station. The route spiraling up to Garbut plateau is a magical place. It is a large plateau with valley on three sides. To the west is Matheran town and its fag end- one tree hill point. To the east is vast expanse of plain land dotted with tiny villages and farms through which the Mumbai Pune railway line passes. The plateau is connected to Garbut point towards north side.
This pattern continued while we walk up thru the Garbut village and reach the Dasturi – Matheran town road you may stay here for a night or return back to Mumbai by car.
